Homecoming?

Canary looked back and forth from Silverstripe to Longwhisker as they argued. She hoped that Silverstripe would win and that her and Ghost would be taken to their camp. What will happen if we do get to their camp? Will their be more cats like Longwhisker who don't trust us? She prayed that there wouldn't.

Her body trembled with nervousness as she listened to what Ghost told the clan cats. The trama of it all was still fresh....

"Believe us....we're all alone now....." Canary pleaded, sadness in her tone.

Longwhisker was surprised when the cats spoke, she had almost expected to them to have dissapearred or something while she had been arguing. "Oh they say they're trustworthy, then it must be true!" Longwhisker mewed sarcastically but then added, "But I give up, if you don't care what happens to the clan," she gestured towards Silverstripe, "then neither do I." She spoke in a haughty tone and then gazed at Silverstripe, awaiting his reply.

Silverstripe sighed in exasperation, mimicking the older queen's voice in the most ridiculous way he could. "'They could be dangerous!' Well, they may be adults to the Spirit Thieves, but they'd barely be apprentices in the Clan! Listen, you stubborn old elder," he hissed, "Get it through your thick skull and think for once. If these two apprentices want to kill, why don't they go right to our camp? Why would they be wandering through the forest willy-nilly? And most of all, why shouldn't we give them a chance? If you're going to be a stubborn old idiot like always, and I don't doubt you will, that's too bad. If you see sense, which is highly unlikely, then it doesn't matter. We're going back to camp and these two young 'uns are coming with us. This isn't for us to decide. It's Patchstar's decision whether they go or stay - and I hope for his sake he's not as stubborn as you!"

Longwhisker bared her teeth in anger and lashed her tial back in forth in rage. "You know what? I don't care what you do with them, but if they don't turn out to be the pathetic, kind hearted cats you seem so convinced that they are, don't blame me, because I tried to warn you that you can't just trust every random cat you meet in the forest, looks can be decieving, but if you think it's worth possibly putting our clanmates in danger, then go ahead, lead them to our camp so they can learn everything about how we think, fight, and live. See if I care!" She turned around and stormed into the forest, anger still making her fur stand on end.

Ghost watched the elder go with a sort of impassive anger. His eyes were narrowed.

"Not very kind, is she?" he said acidly for Canary's ears alone, then, louder, to the silver-striped tom, "If you want us gone, sir, we'll go. Direct us to a place we might find haven and we'll go faster. But if -- if you'll take us in..."

He couldn't help it; he faltered, couldn't finish the sentence. Hope was his heart pounding in his chest. Had they found a home at last?

"Learn everything about how we think, fight, and live? That would be ideal." he hissed after Longwhisker's retreating figure. To the two cats in front of him, he said, "Don't mind her, Longwhisker is just a stubborn elder. Follow me, I'll take you back to camp, Ghost, Canary." With a flick of his tail he began the trip back to camp, looking back to make sure Ghost and Canary were following.

Ghost's tail tightened around his sister's and then he pulled it free, casting Canary a shining-eyed look and hurrying after Silverstripe.

"This is it," he whispered excitedly; "we're gonna have a home again!"
