Longwhisker emmerged from the elders den where she had been napping, when she heard the rucus outside she couldn't help but be curios. When she saw Silverstripe with the two cats they had met in the forest she couldn't help but smirk. Does he honestly think Patchstar is going to just take them in like some sort of soft-hearted apprentice? He must be losing his mind!
Longwhisker sat down to watch the scene, but then she gasped as she realized that this was much more serious than she had thought, Patchstar isn't just going to let them go, she realized with a jolt, he's going to make sure they're dead... and Silverstripe too if he continues to defend them. Longwhisker shifted her paws uneasily, she didn't want the cats in camp, but forcing Silverstripe to kill them? And right in the middle of camp! It was out of the question. But Patchstar seemed as though he had made up his mind, and Longwhisker wasn't so sure her leader was completely wrong in his thinking, but she did know that this could result in the deaths of more than just Ghost and Canary, and that was not to her liking.
"Patchstar don't be a fool, yeah, maybe these cats could want to harm us, but killing them? In the middle of camp? Don't you think that's a little over the top? We aren't savages, let's not act like them. I don't like them being around any more than you do, but if we just drive them off our territory they won't come back. Trust me, they're not worth our time, just drive them away, and let's get back to life as usual, is that so unreasonable?"
Longwhisker could hardly believe she was defending these two cats when no more than an hour ago she had been arguing with Silverstripe that they couldn't be trusted. But she wasn't about to let them be executed, they were still cats, and she didn't know they were bad, for all she knew they could be perfectly innocent, true she didn't think it was worth the risk of letting them stay, but she didn't think just driving them out of camp was so unreasonable.

Canary cautiously began getting hopeful that her and Ghost would make it out of this alive. If Longwhisker was against them before and for them now, why wouldn't it be possible for Patchstar to change his mind?
****
Mothflight nodded at what Longwhisker said. If Patchstar listened, at least the young cats would be alive. He hoped they could become part of the clan. It would give him an opportunity to find out about his mother. He wished there was something he could do or say.
"Something about killing? What did I miss? Darksong said as he approached, limping slightly from the badger wound.
Mothflight shook his head, praying his brother wouldn't make the situation worse. Darksong sat down beside him. He then looked from Mothflight to the rogues, and back again. "They have those necklace things." He said.
"Thank you for stating the obvious, Darksong."
"I want one." Darksong said, "Seriously, it would look cool. I wonder if Patchstar kills one if I could steal the necklace....."
"Will you never mind?! This is a serious situation!"

Patchstar's response had shut Moonwhisker up. She just sat there with a sad look on her face. "I think Longwhisker is right," she meowed.
Rainclaw and Rippedheart meanwhile, were arguing about their thoughts on the ordeal.
"Rainclaw, I know you don't want them to die!" "Dirty rouges!" "Rainclaw, If they die then we'll be murderers!" "They look like kittypets!" "Rainclaw!" "They do!"

"Longwhisker, I'll thank you not to interrupt," Patchstar retorted curtly, voice edged with annoyance at apparently having to repeat his point. "I see nothing wrong with expediency when the opportunity arises, and may I repeat, Silverstripe now has something to prove."
Ghost relaxed slightly as Canary did, watching Longwhisker. He still didn't particularly like the she-cat, but it was nice to have her come to his defense. He waited hopefully for Silverstripe's response.
Starr licked her lips and quietly edged to the front of the crowd. She didn't want to interfere, but if Moonwhisker had already failed...I'll wait until it's truly out-of-paw, she decided reluctantly, it would only make Daddy look worse if I interrupted now. This might yet end well.

Moonwhisker turned her head to see Rainclaw and Rippedheart still arguing. She rolled her eyes. She loved them, but they could be quite judgmental. Rippedheart would most likely win the argument, sense Moonwhisker knew that Rainclaw couldn't kill a cat anyways. Who could? To take a cat's life was barbaric.
Moonwhisker looked around her, she caught Starredmyst muttering to herself. She turned away from the commotion and sat down next to her. "If it gets really bad, I think you're the only on that can change your father's mind," she said to the she-cat.

"If it gets really bad, I think you're the only on that can change your father's mind."
The words made Starredmyst jump, startled out of her contemplation; she looked up to see Moonwhisker sitting nearby, and sighed.
"I know," she answered quietly, ruefully, "but Father will look bad enough for this as it is, and I don't want to make things worse by manipulating him. I'll step in only if it's going to come to blows between them" -- she nodded her head, indicating Silverstripe and Patchstar -- "or if he does something that will...you know...just not go unspoken."
It wasn't killing these cats she was thinking of, either.

Mothflight and Darksong sat in silence for quite some time. They were both intently watching this horrifying scene unfold. Then, for reasons unknown, Darksong had to say something.
"This stupidness is more proof that Patchstar is loosing it." He told Mothflight, keeping his voice low, "I mean just the way he's been acting. And now this? He defiantly has more fat than brains!"
"He's just doing what he thinks is best." Mothflight said, trying not to let Darksong stop him from respecting and trusting the clan leader. No matter how many questions Mothflight wanted to ask these rogues, if it was better for the clan to have them killed he'd be fine with it.
"And what he thinks is best is wrong!" Darksong hissed. "There's no way these kits could have any evil plots. Plus, if we take them in that will be two future warriors for the clan."
Mothflight rolled his eyes, "Ok then mister question authority, go tell Patchstar that he is fat and stupid."
Darksong glared menacingly at his brother, "I'd rather not be kicked out of the clan today, thanks. I would end up staying with our favorite uncle. You know how much I love him...." He said, his tone full of sarcasm.

Silverstripe sat down and began licking a scarred flank, considering things. A plan suddenly jumped into his mind. "Alright, Patchstar." he said heavily, as if accepting the order. He crouched down and slowly began stalking forward towards Ghost and Canary. He could feel every eye on him as he lashed out with one paw, hissing. In a low voice, jaw scarcely moving, he murmured, "Don't nod, don't give any indication I'm talking to you. When I lash out with my other paw, run for it, just run as fast as you can, try to get to Twolegplace and find a Twoleg to live with. Try kicking some sand into my face as you run, it shouldn't be hard and it will slow me down a little. Maybe someday you'll be able to come back."

Ghost was standing there, fur on end, every muscle tense with worry as he listened for Silverstripe's reaction -- waiting, waiting --
"Alright, Patchstar."
His heart sank below his paws and he shoved himself backwards as the tom came on toward him, one paw out -- he ducked the blow and then he heard the soft, hissed words, barely audible as Silverstripe stalked closer.
"Don't nod, don't give any indication I'm talking to you. When I lash out with my other paw, run for it, just run as fast as you can, try to get to Twolegplace and find a Twoleg to live with. Try kicking some sand into my face as you run, it shouldn't be hard and it will slow me down a little. Maybe someday you'll be able to come back."
And the young tom's hope rose back up to its proper place in his chest and he opened his mouth, started to nod, then quickly dodged back from the ensuing attack. There was no time to let Silverstripe know how much he appreciated this -- this chance to stay alive --
But then the warrior was attacking once more and he shouted for Canary to "Run!", pushing her ahead of him and running as hard as he could for somewhere, anywhere where they might be accepted.
As if there was anywhere, now.

Canary was so relieved to hear what Silverstripe said, but she tried her best not to show it. She froze for a moment as the warrior moved to 'attack' her. She was then awakened to run by Ghost. She ran ahead of him back into the forest, not sure where they would go. All she knew was that she wanted to get out of clan camp as fast as possible. They could worry about a place to stay later.....

Patchstar watched coolly as the two young cats ran for their lives, a supercilious expression hovering about his muzzle. "Bad luck, Silverstripe," he said coldly, and was about to suggest that the tom follow when his daughter stepped up.
The she-cat lifted her head, looking arrogant; and she was arrogant, by StarClan, but that wasn't the reason she gave the watching cats the look she did now. "Well?" she demanded icily. "What are you all doing watching this for? This was a private matter between Silverstripe and Patchstar, and it's over now anyway; get gone! All of you -- Silverstripe, you too! I'm sure you all have duties to get back to."
She ushered Silverstripe away before Patchstar could continue the confrontation, and with some relief the gathering began to break up.

Moonwhisker nodded, "Yes." she said. Rainclaw and Rippedheart just sat there, staring at her. "Move!" she hissed. Rippedheart got up at once and hurried back towards the fresh kill pile. One staring contest later Rainclaw also retreated to the pile of food.
Moonwhisker turned to Patchstar and Starredmyst. She didn't really know what to say, the ordeal have very much gotten out of hands in her eyes.

Most of the cats had dispersed, and Starredmyst hesitated at the edge of the scene. Moonwhisker and Patchstar were looking for her, but she didn't want to involve herself anymore than she already had. Quickly, the young she-cat whisked away out of camp, vanishing before she could be accused of anything by the others present.
Patchstar realized for the first time that the situation had gotten totally out of control. Cats were giving him nasty looks as they walked away, and his initial anger was dispersing now that Silverstripe had presumably gone from sight {gm sorry}. A little confused, he leapt down from the rock he'd been standing on with a grunt and looked for his daughter; not seeing her, he padded over to Moonwhisker instead.
"What did I do wrong?" he asked her plaintively.
