Snowdrift was going to step outside of the nursery for the first time in moons. It had taken a lot to keep her kits inside until now. She couldn't really blame them for wanted to explore but.....The forest is so dangerous. I never want to go out there again. She thought as she licked at her soft white and tan pelt, and the pelts of her three kits.
It was a strange thing, Snowdrift's kits. She had told no one in the clan of their father. No one could sway her to tell. When she first found out she was expecting, she hated her kits. How could she possibly love them? She did learn to love them, however, and all it took was seeing them.
As she led them out of the nursery, she kept thinking; Please stay safe, please! She prepared to grab any kit that rushed away from her.

Angelkit followed her mother out of the nursery, her slate-grey eyes wide with awe. "Mother, why didn't you let us out here before? There are cats everywhere, how would we get hurt?"
But Angelkit had dazed off into her own little world before waiting for her mother's reply. Angelkit was not easily impressed considering she was only three moons old, but the camp impressed her, and she didn't even attempt to hide it.

Snowdrift licked Angelkit affectionately. "You never know what can happen, Angelkit. Even when you think you're safe, something can go horribly wrong." The queen spoke to her kit from experience.
She then glanced around, looking at every cat. Those terrifying green eyes burned into her brain, along with that shrill and dark voice. There's no way he'd come to camp. Snowdrift reassured herself. She knew one thing though; he said he would come for his kits. As long as I'm here, he will not have them! She vowed.

x| Everything was so big-- and bright! Kittish azul pools were wide in amazement as he followed his mother's footsteps, ignoring her less the confident appearance. They wouldn't get hurt1 They could take care of themselves. Besides- what could possibly hurt them with all the clan around them? His mother was mouse-brained to think they were to get hurt. Squaring small tabby shoulders, he stepped forward confidently; walking faster then his mother- but still staying close to her. Okay, maybe his confidence wasn't that strong. He quickly scampered back beside her, his confidence waned as cats moved about h clearing on warrior business.
x| He chuckled to himself, eyes bright and playful; his confidence regained once beside his other. He glanced at Angelkit and Maskkit, flicking his tail. Why was his mother so worried? Why wouldn't she let them go play, especially in the forest. It looked so cool! He could climb that tree over there, and catch a mouse, and ambush Angelkit, and scare of trespassers. Puring in delight, he flicked his tail. He just had to become a apprentice now! He couldn't wait! The scents and sounds of the forest and beach were flaring up his adrenaline. Then a thought hit him. Who was their father? He had to be a strong warrior; defending his clan from danger. Yes! He had to be a tabby at least; like him. Light blue eyes scanned the crowd, but no admiring glances came from any tom- so he huffed lightly.
"Mother, why can't we go play in the forest? It's boring here! Look at all these warriors, they wouldn't let anything happen to us."

Angelkit brightened at the prospect of wandering through the forest, with the trees and the prey, and all the wonderful stuff! Her pale eyes sparkled as she looked up at her mother, "Yes mother, please can we go paly in the forest? We won't get hurt, I promise. "
Angelkit thought that her mother just had to let her go and play out in the forest. Surely there was no need for Snowdrift to worry when there were so many clan cats everywhere. Angelkit couldn't help but feel jumpy and excited, and she barely noticed when she began bouncing up and down. "I want to catch a mouse!" The kit voiced her whim, hoping that her mother would think that if they brought back food for the clan that it would be okay for them to go out in the forest.

Snowdrift wished she could make her kits understand. There was no way she could tell them, they were too young. She knew that the question would come up about their father, as it had with members of the clan, but she still dreaded it.
"No, not today." She told them softly, then tried to distract them with something else to do, "How about we stay in camp today? Perhaps you'd like to go check out the river near your aunt's den?" She hoped that would make them forget about going to the forest, at least for now.

Angelkit's eyes widened in excitement, a river in camp! She never imagined there could be anything exciting just outside the nursury. But a river sounded exciting, yes she would love to see a river. She opened her mouth to speak but then closed it. Weren't rivers dangerous? What if she fell in? She couldn't imagine that would be fun, especially now that it was getting colder outside. But then she loked at Flarekit and Mashkit and knew that she had to pretend to be brave- she wasn't going to give them something to make fun of.
"Oh yes, I want to see the river. I've never seen a river before!" [/b]

"Yeah! Let's go see the river!" A broad smile covered Maskkit's face. He was loving every second of this, and had been lost in total, complete joy since he had put paw out of the nursery until now. Under his breath, he began counting the things he loved about this, "I love the sun, I love the sounds, I love having my brother and sister with me, I love my mom, I love the sand under my paws - " He leaped in pursuit of an imaginary moth and landed, purring happily.

Snowdrift smiled at her kits. She then began leading them over to the river. It flowed out of Arcticpool's den, around Highrock, and down into the ocean. Normally, she should be scared about taking 3 small kits near a river. At least it's not the forest She thought, and there are plently of other cats around incase something does happen.
"Now, don't go jumping into the water. I'll have to fish you out and you'll go right back to the nursery." She warned, hoping that would keep them from getting into too much trouble.

Maskkit dabbed a paw in the water. "Yeek! It's cold! Where does it come from? He stared at the water in amazement.

Angelkit rolled her eyes at her brother, "Of course it's cold, it's water and it freezing outside!" Angelkit then turned around and raised her own paw, bracing herself for the chill before dapping her own paw into the chilly water. As her paw touched the water in the river she felt a chill go up her spine. I hope Mashkit didn't see that,! She then withdrew her paw from the cold water and looked at her brothers.
A sly smile crossed her face as she came up with an idea, that she thought was pretty clever. She slowly put her paw back into the chilly river, and splashed her brothers with the icy water.

Maskkit spat in surprise as the cold water was splashed on his fur. He shook the clinging droplets off and glared at Angelkit. "Hey!" He gave himself a few quick licks and splashed some water back at Angelkit.

Angelkit just giggled at her brother, to her the world was just a big giant game. "What, are you afraid of water now." She shivered just a bit from her own wet pelt, and then shook herself until her fur was almost dry, and then put her paw back into the water to splash her brother once more.

Snowdrift wasn't really paying much attention to what her kits were doing. She was confident they would be fine splashing in the river a bit. She was, however, suspicious and afraid of every cat that walked by. It was very unlikely that Secret would be in camp, but she couldn't help but worry. Every tabby pelt she saw made her jump.

Angelkit continued to splash around in the water for a minute or so before noticing the worrisome look on her mother's face. "Mom, why are you always so worried? We're in camp, there are so many cats, nothing could happen to us here." Her slate grey eyes were filled with a seriousness that was almost laughable on the face of such a young cat. Angelkit could not eve begin to understand the dangers that surrounded her, or her mother's fears.
