Ripplepaw cursed himself for not thinking before he spoke, but at least Gingerpaw didn't seem to pity him or think him useless. He smiled warmly, "No thanks, I think I'll just stick to the, 'keep everyone else from dying' thing."
When he said it that way it made it sound depressing, but it really wasn't. He hadn't actually kept many cats form dying, just healed a lot of belly aches and taken a bunch of thorns out of paws. Easy job (for him at least), and no hunting required.

"Oh, alright. How does it feel to know that lives may one day be rested in your responsibility?" Was it just her, or was she speaking somewhat like a warrior? Gingerpaw soon shrugged it off. She likely got that from the warriors and elders, and she didn't mind. Then, another question popped into her mind. "Oh, Ripplepaw, how does it feel to have so much knowledge about healing?"
Just then, without warning or anything, a petrifying fear surged into her. She flinched after she jolted and collapsed to the ground. She curled into a cat ball, and she felt her figure began to shake. "R-R-Ripplepaw...." Her voice was shaky and seemed somewhat ghastly as she continued to shudder.

Ripplepaw was about to reply that it felt normal to know all the things he knew, that it really wasn't that great of a responsibility, and that it was being a warrior that seemed strange to him. He was going to say all these things, but then the air seemed to crack open, and fill with a horrible feeling of despair. He could tell that Gingerpaw felt it too, from the way she reacted.
He did mot reply when she said his name, only stood in silent shock. His fur on end, and his claws sheathing and unsheathing. His tail waved rapidly, as it always did when he was nervous.
How had this happened? It felt like the air between them had literally ripped at the seams and let in this horrible fear. A fear that surrounded not only his body, but his very soul. He shuddered at the thought. Surely that could not really happen...

Gingerpaw soon gasped as she felt the world begin to spin around her due to the petrification. She shivered even more, a terrible sight to see. It was as if she were on a monster; a bundle of fur being tossed around insanely by vibrations. She just wanted to yowl 'StarClan help me!', but her voice failed on her.
Oh, dear, StarClan! She felt desperation seeping into her soul, as well as the terror. "R-R-Ripp-" She was cut off as her voice failed her again. She felt as if she were going to burst into tears, and she desperately wanted Ripplepaw's comfort and warmth beside her.

Ripplepaw had no clue what to do. He was at a loss for words and actions. Silenced by the shee terror of the moment he didn't even attempt to speak. The world felt like a dark place as he stood there, unsure of anything.
At last he felt himself begin to recover, and he lay his tail comfortingly on Gingerpaw's shoulder. He was still silent, not sure of what to say. Feeling the moment pass he took a few deep breaths. What had just happened? Where had that feeling of darkness and dread come from? A shiver went through his body, what if it was realted to the bird in the fire?

A while after Ripplepaw had tried to somewhat comfort her, Gingerpaw felt the sheer petrification begin to dissipate. She laid there, taking gasps as breaths. The terror of what had just occurred remained in her gaze, and she buried her face into Ripplepaw's flank. She knew her voice would fail her if she tried to speak at the moment.

Ripplepaw didn't know how long they stayed there like that in the silence. It was of those times when all sense of time dissapears, when hours and minutes and seconds don't matter. At last he decided that someone had to break the silence, and it might as well be him. "What was that?" His voice was hoarse, as if it had not been used in a long time. He did not expect an answer. Or at least not a real answer, but it felt as if someone needed to acknowledge what had happened. It was one of those things that needed to be questioned, even if the questions could not be answered.

At the tone of Ripplepaw's voice, Gingerpaw lifted her head slowly from his flank. "I-I... I don't know... It just.. suddenly attacked...." A light, slightly shaky sigh escaped her maw and her gaze ascended into Ripplepaw's. "Thanks for trying to comfort me..." The sparkles in her gaze began to slowly revive, and she tried to allow a faint smile to creep onto her lips.

Ripplepaw smiled shyly, all of a sudden feeling embarressed for trying to comfort her. "Well, yeah, it was no problem..." He felt his cheeks growing hot, but tried to stay cool. He looked around, the forest had remained the same through the despair, and it was like the whole thing ahd been their imagination. Then again, who was to say it wasn't? He didn't believe that though, it had been far to real to be fake.

As Ripplepaw's gaze scanned their surroundings, Gingerpaw felt her cheeks grow hot. She turned her head away sharply, and then scrambled to her paws. "I-I'm sorry. I didn't mean to get too close." She turned around to face him, and she managed to calm down even though her gaze was digging into Ripplepaw's again. "I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable."

Ripplepaw felt worse than ever now, "Oh, no it's not your fault, it's just..." he hesitated, not really sure what to say, "I'm just sensative about that stuff." He brought his gaze back to Gingerpaw. "So... was there anything else you wanted to do out here?" he asked cautiously. He wasn't sure if she would just want to go back t camp or not after that... whatever it was. He wasn't sure he wanted to stay out anymore.

"Uhm...." Ripplepaw's question about if she had desired to do anything else had stumped Gingerpaw. She planned on just a small hunt and a walk. "Well... We could go for a small stroll... But near Camp this time, in case anything else happens." With that, she straightened up and rasped her tongue over her chest before turning halfway away from Ripplepaw.

"Okay." Ripplepaw nodded slowly, this idea sounded agreeable enough. He turned to follow Gingerpaw when a though struck his mind. "I still need to find catmint. Arcticpool was running low, and I was supposed to get some." He thought carefully, trying to figure out where the nearest spot he could catmint would be. There was a lot by the twoleg area, but that was too far away...

When Ripplepaw seemed to have frozen in thought or something, Gingerpaw ceased her paw-steps. "What is it, Ripplepaw..?" She hoped that he wouldn't have to go through what she had to go through the last moment, and she padded back to Ripplepaw.

"I need to get catmint." It wasn't actually a huge deal, but Ripplepaw had promised Arcticpool, and he didn't want to forget it. Besides, what would he do if some cat got a belly ache that night and they didn't have enough catmint to treat him or her? "I think there is some close by, if you don't mind going a little out of the way." He hoped she didn't mind, it seemed weird to be alone after... that thing that happened. Whatever it was.
