Ashpaw nodded her head thoughtfully. She could do that, just look for a weak spot, and bite it or something. She could do that. "Okay, I can do that. But what if they don't have a weak spot? Then what do I do? Just randomly claw them or bite them or something?" Ashpaw wasn't sure she'd ever get the hang of this. She much preferred hunting. Catching mice and voles was easy. Catching cats, well, that was a little more complicated.

Mothflight looked over at Darksong and laughed. He then told Ashpaw, "Everyone has a weakness, whether it be an ailment or injury, or something like moving slower." Darksong then added, "Exploiting your enemy's weakness is often your best bet. Just randomly clawing at them is stupid." He couldn't believe his apprentice didn't already understand these things. Then again, she wasn't raised like he and Mothflight were.

Ashpaw narrowed her eyes, as if she didn't believe him, and then nodded. Then a thought crossed her mind, "But if everyone had a weakness, does that mean I have a weakness to? What if my enemies exploit it?" Ashpaw was genuinely concerned with this, fighting seemed so complicated. She thought she'd probably have better luck if she just begged her enemiy to be nicer or something like that.

Mothflight was getting a lot of amusement out of Ashpaw's obliviousness, while Darksong was down-right embarassed. "That's why you need to figure out what your own weakness is and be aware of it. Make sure you don't make it obvious to your enemies." Darksong told her, a bit of frustration and harshness in his tone. Mothflight then said, "And make sure you don't pick a fight you can't handle. That can only end in disaster." He then gave his brother a cold stare for a moment. Darksong ignored it and looked to Ashpaw, "That means you shouldn't pick any fights at all, not that you'd be the type to do so." His words mad Mothflight think, Yeah, but your mentor is! He'll get into a fight any chance he gets.

Ashpaw thought this sounded right, but she had no clue what her weakness might be. "But what's my weakness?" She didn't think Darksong or Mothflight would know, but it couldn't hurt asking, right? Her eyes shone with curiosity and determination, but it was fading quickly as she doubted her ability to ever fight off anyone (or anything) else.

Mothflight chuckled under his breath at her question, "Darksong, you're on your own now with this helpless kit." He then began padding away, much to Darksong's dismay. He then turned to Ashpaw, sighing heavily. "You'll figure out what your weakness is as you learn to fight......perhaps we should try this another day. Just don't forget what we told you." It was really frustrating to him that she was so obilvious to every aspect of fighting, but Darksong held back his anger. He knew from experience that getting mad at a learning apprentice would only make things worse.

Ashpaw narrowed her eyes a little when Mothflight called her a helpless kit. She might not be great at fighting, but she was not a helpless kit. However she held her tongue, she never talked back to warriors. She could tell by Darksong's voice that he had practically given up on her. She wasn't so sure why he was so disappointed in her. He couldn't even teach an apprentice by himself, he needed his brother's help. "Okay," she agreed, even though she wanted to stay here and try to learn to fight. She wasn't sure what she would ever accomplish if they just ditched training sessions before she ever actually learned anything, but she didn't say that out loud.
