So, uhhhh. I have lots of ideas n stuff and I want to pull 'em off. But I need feedback first; and Emzie/Meppers, I want your ok before I try any of it.

So there's three main ones;;


1) Referral contest - Prizes?

Our active member count's gone down since earlier in the year. =C Obviously that'd be partly my fault for killing the plot, hence lack of posts to make, xD, and partly due to finals; but I have the latest dang exams of anyone I know and they're over for everyone by Wednesday, so I have a feeling that's not a valid excuse anymore.

[On a side note: Emzie, Meppers, have you guys actually been deleting inactive members? I've been meaning to ask 'cuz most of the inactive members...don't exist anymore xD]

ANYWAY, I was thinking we could have a contest to boost things up a little. Yanno, the whole "add-name-to-ad/ask-new-members-who-referred-them" deal. It usually works fairly well, and all our active members are dedicated enough to do some referring with a little encouragement, right? =D

The one problem with this is that I don't know what we could offer for prizes. There's not any kind of point system on the forum. We could have it be graphics or something -- but everyone makes their own anyway, and if they don't, someone's usually willing to do it for free. So I need ideas.

2) Medicine cat

Dude. I can't believe no one's done anything about this yet. xD Arcticpool's been dead since, like, within a month or two of her joining, and talented or not, I can't honestly say she was that active to begin with. And we neeeeed a medicine cat.

My suggestion's pretty simple, and I already mentioned it: let's ask Ashcloud what she wants to happen with Ripplepaw. We can have Arcticpool die in some tragic accident and have him promoted early; we can have him just suddenly "be" med cat with no fuss and ceremony; or, if you want him to stay apprentice a while longer, we can just re-open the dang applications and let someone new take the position on.

But I don't think it's good to let that sit. xD

3) Organizing the character board

So, um, there's been a good many different attempts to keep some kind of tabs on Clan members, that don't work so well. There's the gigantically long set of lists I was keeping updated, which, being gigantically long, no one reads; there's the Census thing Darksong's been doing, which though awesome is in a fairly out-of-the-way corner and is tough for quick reference.

My idea is to organize the character board into sub-boards: you know, Important Character, Warrior, Elder, Apprentice, Out-of-Clan, etc. Then we can list important stats -- number of cats, number of toms/she-cats, maybe on the apprentice/warrior boards number of open mentors/cats who need mentors/etc.

It'd make things a lot more organized and be easier to update -- just fix the stats real quick whenever you add a character to one of the boards.

4) Skins and Forum Looks

Uhhh...at some point this summer I think I'm gonna do a bit of a revamp; make some new skins, yanno, refresh the scene a little. I just wanted to know if there were any of those little coding tricks and stuff you guys would want me to throw in. What I've got in mind at the moment:

All sounds good. Meppers had been deleting inactive members, yes, but I informed her about Arcticpool since I didn't dare delete accounts and such. We NEED another activity check soon.

With the medicine cat thing, if Ashcloud wants Ripplepaw to stay an apprentice for a while longer, I could add in another character. Like some old med cat who's gunna die soon anyway....just so Ripplepaw could be mentored. Arcticpool didn't do much of anything anyway.

Organization on the character board would be AWESOME! I hate having to fish around for my charries in 2 or 3 pages of kitties >.< Maybe have the board descriptions (or have a thread pinned in the board) that has the total amount for that section (like it says how many warriors, how many of each gender, how many do and don't have apprentices, and how many have mates). Would be hard to keep up, but would make creating a new character MUCH MUCH easier.

I like the skin....lol I'm so used to it. Some options would be nice too Heck, I could prolly try to make a skin. Wouldn't be nearly as amazing as this one though, hehe.

Yeah, I was thinking maybe we'd have one starting in July or something, an activity check that is? I still haven't been around long enough/checked the memberlist to see whether we have a huge number of inactive membies, but things have seemed kinda slow...

I guess it'd depend on how long Ashcloud wants Ripplepaw an apprentice for...I'm really indifferent to how it happens as long as something gets done. xD

EXACTLY what I was thinking for the character board; I was planning on putting quick stats in the board description like you said. I'd gladly do most of the updating -- busywork for when no one's on and I'm bored >-<.

You'd be surprised how much of the skin is little Javascript tips I got off the Proboards site. That and a handful of pretty gradient images xD Makes making new ones a hassle b/c of the number of places I have to update, but as soon as I can get ahold of my computer (visiting my mom's now) I'm prolly gonna go ahead and start on some new ones.

Oh yeah i forgot to say something about the referring new members. I do think we need a few more members (defiantly with the future clan split, and the med cat issue), but the prizes thing might be difficult. I can't think of anything besides graphics type stuff, but most of us do that kind of stuff on our own.

Yeahhh, gonna have to work on it...let 'em have an extra character maybe? But then again -- I mean, I can see it being an okay prize, but it's not a big deal or anything.

I went ahead and fixed the character board up some, and I want to get started on a skin or something (my computer's been blowing up lately, and I'm trying to get it to shut down now as a test) buuuut I'm not using my normal monitor and the colors are all weird. So we'll see.

Hmmm. What if we had like "levels" of prizes for number of people referred? Like, you get a point per person -- and then it takes a certain number of points to get a chara, maybe also have some people do graphics for points, etc, and some kind of ULTIMATE PRIZE that no one can think of yet?

Prizes. Um. I dunno, maybe we could give them some powers? As in like, our admin powers but like not as many or something. XD

3 - ZOMG. I totally had this idea before. -kicks Emzie- and I asked you about it and you were all, 'Nuuuuu'. But tis ok, I forgive you. So I obviously say yes to this one.

4 - Yay new! New skins are fun. New looks are fun wooooh! And maybe we can put in a sidebar instead of the welcome table? I dunno, it doesn't really matter but it's just an idea. I don't really care.
