"Hey your glass is empty
It's a hell of a long way home
Why don't you let me take you?
It's no good to go alone
I never would have opened up
But she seems so real to me
And after all the b*s* I've heard
It's refreshing not to see
I don't have to pretend
She doesn't expect it from me"

x\\My Thoughts
Build. Risingdawn has a similar structure to his sister; he is slightly larger than she is, but without the big paws and ears. He's fairly average at a glance, a bit on the small side and a little bit muscular.
Fur. Riss is a pale sandy ginger; when he was born it was solid, very pal and almost tannish, but it darkened over the moons and gained a faint tabby pattern. It's short and a little bit softer than Silverdust's.
Eyes. Deep green, more of a dark pine color than emerald-bright or yellowish.
Other. Nothing much.
Personality. Risingdawn is a reserved, quiet sort of tom. He's a perfectionist and despises the smallest of his failures; to put it bluntly, he's convinced that he does nothing right and hates himself for it. He's not a talented warrior, but he's got a dry wit and a tongue sharper than his teeth. He tends to have high expectations of others and very little belief in them. It's as if he's always bitter that no one else is perfect, and believes that for him especially, they will never even try. He's clever and has a sharp sense of humor -- he's always looking for the right moment to insert a bit of sarcasm or a mocking comment. He tells few his secrets and fewer can guess what he's thinking; Silverdust sometimes wonders in disgust if he expects her to read his mind.
Hobbies and talents. Riss is a clever cat, quick-witted and good at sharp comebacks. He's a fast runner and can usually work his way out of uncertain situations. He has a love of intelligent cats, quiet moments and warm memories, as well as a strong bond with his sister Silverdust.
Faults and dislikes. As before mentioned, Risingdawn is sharp and sarcastic; he's very distrusting and almost cold, with a tendency to pull away from intimate moments. He's not a very good warrior and tends to be a perfectionist -- not exactly a healthy combination. When tired or feeling down, he has a tendency to get into depressions he can't pull himself out of.

Parents.Winterfoot and Amberheart
Siblings. Silverdust
Teaching Me. Longwhisker
Proteges. Falconpaw
Closer than a friend.Goldensun
After me. None
Other Family. None
Gone but unforgotten.
Winterfoot - died of whitecough when Riss was seven moons old
Amberheart - exiled for the Clan for Riss's scandal when Riss was 14 moons old
Goldensun - She's still alive, but refuses to associate with Riss now that she's gotten her revenge.
History.
Riss was always the prodigy of the nursery; astute and praise-seeking, he was the pride of his family and eager to learn more. He was apprenticed to Longwhisker, a senior warrior of the time, and did fairly well; trying his hardest he was nothing more than a decent warrior, but early on he earned a good reputation as a hard worker and of use to the Clan. He was his father's image and his mother's joy, and did everything he could to keep his status high in their eyes.
Longwhisker was a decent mentor and a good match for him at the time; though possessed of the same not-so-sweet temper and harsh attitude she displays as an elder, she was also fair, and her criticism was more constructive than harmful. Risingpaw wasn't as keen to feel failure as Risingdawn would be, though certainly he struggled with his perfectionist tendencies from the time he was a little kit.
Risingdawn's mother passed away when the tom was seven moons old. Riss was devastated; Winterfoot had been his utmost source of comfort, the one he'd always worked hard for, just to see the look in her eyes. It was a strange thing -- though Silverdust always loved her family to death and would have protected any of them with her life, it was Risingdawn who was closer to his parents. Silv just didn't understand their willingness to give some bit of themselves; she was herself and to heck with the consequences, but he'd rather see his life and those around him improved by his work than destroyed by what he believed in. Riss grew closer to his father with Winterfoot's death, though Silv drew away from her family after the event, and Amberfoot would be a source of strength for some time to come.
Time passed. Riss and Silv became warriors and received their adult names; the night they stood vigil was probably the proudest moment of both young cats' lives. Risingdawn remained on speaking terms with his testy mentor and visited her occasionally when she retired to the elders' den -- Silv, he noticed with some amusement, refused to speak to her mentor from the day after the ceremony onwards.
In fact, it was to Risingdawn's startlement and downright delight that she began to associate with him instead.
Goldensun was a beautiful, sweet-tongued she-cat, talented and witty. She'd only recently been made a warrior when given Silverdust as an apprentice, and was only about six moons Risingdawn's senior; he had been watching her out of the corner of his eye from the time he began to notice she-cats, and was beside himself with delight at her interest in him.
She was good with words and far less awkward socially than Riss was -- he adored her like she was a goddess and was convinced they would live their life out together. He would bitterly remember some time later how Silverdust had scoffed when he mentioned the idea; you couldn't be in love with someone you held up on a pedestal, she said disdainfully.
How true...
One day, Risingdawn called his love to his mother's grave, a fitting place -- ever since Winterfoot had died, this was the place where his held-back thoughts and feelings so often overflowed. He told Goldensun he loved her, and asked her if she would be his mate.
She smiled.
And she told him exactly what she thought of him.
She knew him so well -- he had told her secrets he would never have divulged to another living being. She knew what he hated and he feared, the things he despised about himself; she knew his guilt and his sorrow, his worry and his pain. And she told him about it, all of it, and laughed in his face when she saw how much it hurt him.
Risingdawn was a wreck. He didn't know that his crush had done this to get back at her hateful little apprentice; he didn't know that he had been used, that Goldensun didn't really care about him either way. He heard her words and the way she said them, and felt that she was right, totally and completely; he hated himself for that one moment and would have jumped off the cliff into camp if she'd suggested it.
Instead she laughed in his face and walked away. He would never hear her voice again without some flash of despair; would never, in fact, hear it directed at him -- not for the rest of his lifetime. For a long moment he was frozen by shock and sorrow -- but then, praise StarClan, he took the better path and ran to his father, metaphorically collapsing in the older tom's arms.
Amberheart was furious. He heard in Goldensun's words what his son did not -- that the she-cat had done it in a sense of petty revenge. Grimly, he went to Patchstar and told the tom what had happened; Patchstar didn't seem to care. A shouting match ensued, and, annoyed, Patchstar banished Amberheart from the Clan. Risingdawn was left without support.
Well, not entirely without, but after the episode there was no way he was going to confide in Silverdust. She heard, of course, but he pretended to be stronger than he felt, begged her not to interfere. She had no tact, and would just cause more problems.
And she'd started the problem in the first place.
Since then.
Risingdawn was troubled to learn of a rogue on IvoryClan territory; for some reason Rainclaw and Rippedheart wanted to keep the cat's existence a secret, and after finding out he went to find a place to hide and think for a little without Silverdust screaming in his ear.
This was how he -- literally -- bumped into Snowsong, hiding under a bush. The pair were immediately interested in one another and became fast friends. Riss is hoping that -- maybe -- just this once -- there will be something more, and it won't fall down on top of him. He's praying.
Companionship.
Silverdust - Silv is Riss's sister and one of his only confidants. Her crazy attitude annoys the heck out of him, but she's one of few friends. He loudly explains his exasperation with her on a daily basis, but will freely admit how much he relies on her to keep him emotionally stable.
Snowsong - Risingdawn is rapidly falling into a relationship with Snowsong that outstrips anything he's ever felt for a she-cat before -- he is elated but terrified by this unhoped-for relationship. While still uncertain enough to keep from confessing love in so many words, he is certain that he and Snowsong can pull one another out of the holes they've dug.
Rainclaw - an old friend, Risingdawn harbored a crush on Rainclaw back when they were kits. It dissipated as soon as he met Goldensun, however, and, after being hurt by that she-cat and seeing the love between Rain and Darksong grow, he's never tried to revive it.
Rippedheart - another old friend of Risingdawn's and probably the one he's closest to apart from Silv. They think alike.
Enmity.
Patchstar - Riss hates his leader with a passion for his careless ways and the way he exiled Risingdawn's father.
Otherwise known.
Moonwhisker/Arcticpool - Riss really doesn't know the deputy or medicine cat.
Darksong - Riss has never met Darksong, but knows him by reputation and his association with Rainclaw
Longwhisker - Risingdawn still chats with his old mentor on occasion, but they were never close.
