Gingerpaw waited slightly anxiously for Ripplepaw, and she was surprised to find him coming back toward her in such a short moment. When he broke the news that Articpool wasn't there, she felt anxiety begin to prick like thorns on her pads. "Uhm... Then.. Should we wait for her to come back or go after her...?" She snapped her gaze closed as she realized that it was a stupid question. They had no idea where Articpool was, even though they could follow her scent. She could have been busy with business, and she didn't like the thought of bothering her.

Ripplepaw tilted his head thoughtfully. "I think we should wait here, and in the mean time maybe we should try to figure out what it means on our own. I mean, I'm supposed to be a medicine cat too, I should learn how to do this stuff with omens and signs." Ripplepaw thought this made sense, but the omen didn't. What could a bird falling from the sky and burning have to do with the clan? It didn't make sense, none of it did.

Gingerpaw nodded, and then settled down closer to Ripplepaw. "Let's see... What does a bird and a fire mean in an omen..?" She flicked her tail slightly, getting frustrated that she had no idea what they meant. Well, at least she could learn a little from Ripplepaw.

Ripplepaw took a deep breath, Think like Arcticpool, she would know what it meant, he told himself. "Well, maybe they represent cats. Are there any cats in the clan who could be represented by a bird or a fire?" Ripplepaw racked his braind, but he couldn't think of anyone who could be sybolized by a bird or a fire. Momentarily he wondered how he could ever be a medicine cat if he couldn't figure this out.

"Uhm... I wonder if the fire means a flame colored cat... And I wonder if the bird was a cat with the fur appearing like a bird..." Gingerpaw pounded her mind, and she unsheathed her claws halfway, unintended. They dug into the earth in hopes of holding in the frustration.

Ripplepaw tried to think of flame-colored cats in camp. "Well... Swiftflame is the color of fire, and her name ends in flame. And..." he hesitated for a minute before continuing, "And you're kind of flame colored..." As soon as he spoke he regretted it. What if he had offended her? The omen couldn't possibly be about Gingerpaw, could it? He flicked his tail nervously, he couldn't shake off the feeling that the omen was about Gingerpaw...

Gingerpaw nodded slightly as Ripplepaw spoke, and then her gaze widened as Ripplepaw finished. "Y-You think I'm i-involved in the omen..?" She couldn't shake off the ominous feeling beginning to taint her limbs, and she felt the urge to wince. Then, she concentrated her gaze fully on Ripplepaw. "W-wait... Didn't the bird that fell in have gray feathers and a few spots with awkwardly tabby like patterns on it..? I-it must be y-you." She now couldn't shake off the atmosphere that seemed to say that Ripplepaw was contained in the omen.

Ripplepaw's eyes widened in horror and shock, "You don't think..." he almost didn't want to finish the sentence, and as he did his voice dropped to a whisper, "You don't think the omen is about... us?" He personally had not noticed a gray tabby bird that fell into the fire, but he trusted that Gingerpaw had. But what did this mean? Should they avoid each other? Would that help anything? Ripplepaw wanted to hide in a corner and hide from all these complicated questions that flew through his mind. None of this made sense, what could happen between Ripplepaw and Gingerpaw that required an omen?

"I-I think it does involve us..." Gingerpaw began to rake the heck out of her mind, trying to find out what it meant. "Well... Uhm... The bird and the fire eventually joined together and then --" She didn't want to finish the statement, and when she spoke after a short moment of hesitation, it felt as if her words were thorns being ripped from her throat. "..and then disappeared..."

Ripplepaw let out a horrified gasp, "But, but if the bird is supposed to be me, what does that mean?" He knew one way it could be interpretted, but he didn't want to voice it out loud, he would not voice it out loud. Maybe they were reading too much into it? For all he knew some random grey bird just fell into a fire because it was too stupid to fly. And then he realized something else, "The fire d-" he stopped mid-sentence, not wanting to continue "went away too."

Gingerpaw froze. She was now speechless, though she could feel her heart. It felt as if her heart were pounding more and more, in hopes of circulating her freezing blood. The ominous and eerie feeling felt as if it were transforming into an unknown creature, and then it felt as if it her screaming into her ear. She flinched, and she began to get desperate for comfort. Being so soft had its weaknesses.

Ripplepaw felt as if his heart was about to fall out of his chest, "Maybe it's not us. Maybe it'ssomeone else and we're just imagining things. Who knows, maybe it doesn't mean anything? This doesn't mean anything bad is going to happen, but we should be careful- you know. But I don't think we should worry yet." He was talking just as much to convince himself as he was to convince Gingerpaw, he wasn't even sure if he believed what he was saying, but what else was he supposed to believe? A bird fell into a fire and both were just gone. He refused to believe that it could be about Gingerpaw and Ripplepaw.

Gingerpaw shakily nodded, and then tried to calm down. She halfway failed, but she managed to straighten up and shake herself. "You're right," she breathed, "we should just wait until something else occurs." She then shifted her gaze back to Ripplepaw. "I think those are enough what ifs for the moment. We should relax and see what occurs." She was regaining confidence, as well as her calmer and softer structure, rather than petrified and ice caged.

Ripplepaw nodded cooly, he too had also recovered from the shock of what the omen could mean. "Yeah, we just need to relax." He looked up at the sky- which, to his relief, contained no birds- and shivered as he realized the sun was beginning to sink lower in the sky. His tail had stopped twitching and now lay still on the camp ground. This omen didn't have to ruin his life, it didn't have to mean anything. He let his muscles relax and shook off the stress of the omen.

Gingerpaw glanced at Ripplepaw after watching the sun sink lower into the horizon. "Uhm.. You want to go for a walk?" It would at least get their minds off of the omen, and they would likely be able to enjoy they time they had before they would have to go to their dens and sleep for tomorrow.
