Darkness. That was all Swiftflame knew. The inside of her eyelids colored black, by some invisible hand so far beyond anyone. Even in unconsciousness, Swiftflame heard Moonwhisker's strangled cry, a ghostly echo in a world of shadows. The vibrations from Ashpaw's feet reverberated longer than they should have, making impressions in her mind. Swiftflame's body had shut down, doing it's best to protect her from the sickness. However, there was only so much that could be done. Now, the only cat who could save her was Articpool.
Go, Ashpaw. May StarClan grant swiftness to your paws...

Ashpaw didn't hesitate for a second. She could never forgive herself if Swiftflame didn't make it because she was too slow, so she ran as fast as she could into the shadows of the forest. The blood pounded in her ears and the sun on her pelt that she usually found comfort in her did nothing to ease her mind. All she could do now was run, and so she did, her paws steadily hitting the ground until the entrance to camp came into sight...

ooc;// I haven't seen Arcticpool around, so I'm thinking that Ashpaw and Moony can give her yarrow and be like, 'oh look! it's yarrow! xD' Orrr Ripplepaw can come [which I like better]
Moonwhisker watched Ashpaw hurry off. If she made it back and Swiftflame was saved, she would diffidently make and effort to talk to Patchstar about her warrior ceremony. Moonwhisker looked at Swiftflame. "Don't give up, Ashpaw's on her way! Not think Moonwhisker, what plant was it that makes a cat throw up? Think, watermint? No, thats a bellyache... Argh!" Thinking aloud was all Moonwhisker could do while she waited for Ashpaw to return.

It took only about a minute for Ashpaw to reach camp, and though she did not find Arcticpool, she came back just as quickly with Ripplepaw, Arcticpool's apprentice, at her heels. As both apprentices found the spot where Swiftflame had collapsed Ripplepaw quickly ran over to the fiery colored warrior. Just one sniff revealed the scent of sickness. "What happened?" he inquired, almost too serious for a cat of his young age.
Ashpaw quickly explained about the mouse and their horrble smell and how Swiftflame had caught one and then collapsed. After a quick explanation the worry in her eyes was obvious, "Is she going to be okay?"
Ripplepaw nodded, "We need yarrow so she can throw up the sickness. Look for a bitter smelling green herb." Ripplepaw tried to recall any near by places that might have yarrow, but could not. He quickly bent his head to the ground, sniffing for the familar scent of yarrow.

Moonwhisker looked around anxiously. It seemed as though each second was an hour. Then, finally Ashpaw returned. But instead of having Arcticpool with her, it was Ripplepaw. Moonwhisker didn't care who she returned with, as long as they could help Swiftflame. "Thank StarClan!" she meowed.
"We need yarrow so she can throw up the sickness. Look for a bitter smelling green herb."
Yarrow! Duh! Moonwhisker thought as she sank to the ground, sniffing the surroundings for Yarrow leaves. She wasn't far from the group when she came across the bitter smelling herb. She grabbed some quickly and hurried the leaves back to Ripplepaw and Swiftflame.

Ashpaw sniffed the forest floor, cautiously looking for the bitter smelling herb. Just as she was about to give up all hope she noticed Moonwhisker bringing some back to Ripplepaw and Swiftflame. She rushed over, close enough to see what was happening, but far enough away to give Ripplepaw space to work. She watched quietly as he picked up the herbs gently, and wrinkled her nose as a hint of the bitter smell drifted toward her.
Ripplepaw nodded gratefully to Moonwhisker and picked up a few yarrow leaves. She was unconcious, so he had to chew them himself. He used his paws to gently part her jaws and place tha yarrow in her mouth. "Swallow Swiftflame, swallow," he whispered as he gently rubbed her throat to ease the yarrow down. Please let this work, he prayed to Starclan, Please let her be okay.

"Swallow, Swiftflame, Swallow."
What was this? Then, suddenly, the swirling, unfathomable darkness lifted, and a glare of sunlight registered through Swiftflame's parted eyelids. She moaned, and then vomited up the yarrow along with fur from the contaminated mouse. With another groan, Swiftflame glanced up at Moonwhisker and Ashpaw. She closed them again when the glaring sunlight burned her eyes.
"What happened? Was it that poisoned mouse? Was anyone else sick?"
Without waiting, Swiftflame attempted in vain to stand up. Her paws could not even manage to move into a position that would allow her any movement.
"W-what's going on? Why can't I move?"

Ripplepaw had no clue why she couldn't move, but he knew that admitting that was a bad idea, it could scare Swiftflame. Plus, he didn't want anyone thinking he was incompetent. "You're probably just tired," he finally decided. It made the most sense, he had never heard of a cat becoming paralyzed from eating a sick mouse.
Ashpaw was not completely reassured by Ripplepaw's explanation, but he was a medicine cat apprentice, so he should know more than her about that stuff. She decided that it was better to let him do all the fancy medicine cat stuff. "Yeah, Swiftflame, I'm sure you'll be fine in no time."

Swiftflame was slightly reassured by Ripplepaw's diagnosis for her sudden lack of ability to move, but that wouldn't help her get back to camp.
"Umm...how am I going to get back to camp? My body seems fine, by my paws...I can barely feel them!"
Swiftflame's worry was returning, worse than ever now. What if it never got better? She took deep breathes, concdentrating on the warm sunlight above her. She was being ridiculous. After several more calming breathes, Swiftflame looked around. Several prickly looking bushes lined a small circle of trees they were locarted in, and right next to them were huge clumps of moss.
"Until I can move enough to get back to camp ,maybe I could make a nest thing [OOC: I forget what they're called] here- " Swiftflame suddenly broke off as an intense, prickling pain traveled the length of her paws and legs and stayed there. It felt like she was being stabbed with a thousand, burning needles.
"Ow! Ripplepaw! It hurts, my legs! Ripplepaw, help!"
[OOC: That's the feeling coming back to her legs. You know, like when you're foot falls asleep. Umm yeah writiers block so this was the best I had"

Ripplepaw was now more clueless than ever, but once again, he was not about to openly admit that he had no clue what was wrong with Swiftflame. Think, Ripplepaw, think! He sniffed the leg, but other than the fading scent of the sickness it smelled perfectly normal. "How does it hurt Swiftflame? Is it tight, is it tingling?" He hoped her answer would bring some clarity to the situation, but he doubted it. Pretty soon he might have to go get Arcticpool if he couldn't figure out what was wrong...

Moonwhisker wasn't exactly sure what to do. Swiftflame seemed ok. I hate to think it, but maybe she isn't really hurt.. Like she's just stressed, she wondered. That was probably it. But then again, this was coming from the deputy that couldn't remember what yarrow was. "Swiftflame," she meowed, attempting to say something that would force her to move. "I think you can get up. Just ignore the pain. If this happened in the middle of a battle, there might be no one that would be able to help you, just try getting up a few more times. We might as well turn this into a lesson, sense Darksong barley teaches Ashpaw," she meowed, nodding to the apprentice. "Plus, I don't think you're hurt at all."

"Well, I can see that I'm not hurt!" Swiftflame snapped irritably. The burning pain was slowly fading from her paws, and she could see now that it was the feeling coming back into her paws. "Still, you could be a bit more sympathetic! I almost died! Yeah, I just got feeling back, but I'm not faking!" Swiftflame spat angrily. With that, she attempted to leap to her paws, but only managed an undignified stumble as she tottered dizzily back to camp.

Ripplepaw still was not sure what exactly was wrong with Swiftflame, but getting stressed out about it definately would not help. "RelaxvSwiftflame, I'm sure you're not faking it, but does it feel any better now?" If there was one thing he liked about being a medicine cat, it was that there seemed to be a lot less drama. He couldn't take a mate, and he wasn't as close to all the warriors. The drama was definately something he could live without.
Ashpaw's attention had been caught by another comment.
Darksong barely teaches Ashpaw.
The words came from Moonwhisker, the deputy of Ivoryclan. Ashpaw had never noticed, but Moonwhisker didn't have it too far off. Now that she thought about it, it seemed like she had learned more from Snowsong that one time she had ran into her in the forest than she ever had from Darksong. Maybe Darksong wasn't the best mentor for her...

Swiftflame tore angrily through the brambles, snarling when one caught in her flame-orange pelt. How dare Moonwhisker accuse her of faking sickness? She had nearly been killed by a poisoned vole. Did Moonwhisker think Swiftflame would go that far for attention? What indication had she ever given that said she wanted any more than she already had? Swiftflame suddenly halted, the ominous clouds which covered the clouds above reflecting her feelings within as she stared, suddenly horror-struck, at the ground. Moonwhisker knew that she wasn't faking - she had smelled the poison herself. She must have been previously angry at Swiftflame for something else. "What have I done wrong...?" Swiftflame wondered, depression clouding her gaze. "Maybe she never really liked me, but pitied me for some reason so she was nice..." Swiftflame allowed her own terrible thoughts to drag her down further, until she curled into a miserable ball on the ground. The first tentative drops of rain fell, flattening Swiftflame's soft pelt to her skull. With no further warning, huge torrents of rain poured down on Swiftflame, mimicking her mood within. With a huge shuddering sigh, Swiftflame curled even tighter, trying her best to block out the wold and wet as she drifted unhappily towards sleep.
[OOC: This post is depressing...I guess I was in the mood xD] Edits: Someone reply to my angst! xD]

Ripplepaw had no clue what to do. If Swiftflame could run back into the forest she probably didn't need his help anymore, but she did look angry. He wasn't sure he should be the one to comfort her, he hardly knew her. He was at a complete loss of what to do.
While Ripplepaw stood unsure, Ashpaw followed Swiftflame into the forest, following her scent when she could no longer see her fiery shape. As she walked it began to rain, wetting her dark pelt. The rain drops were huge and numerous, drenching the entire world, and making the ground muddy.
By the time Ashpaw came upon Swiftflame's sleeping shape she was drenched and cold. She wasn't sure whether she should wake Swiftflame up, or let her sleep. She finally decided to wait for her to wake up, after all, sleep was probably good for her. Ashpaw found a dry hiding spot under a large tree root, and waited patiently for her friend to wake up.
