Snowdrift padded slowly in the soft, cool sand. She had left her kits with the other queens, feeling that she needed a bit of a break. Being out by herself on the beach was perfect. It was late afternoon and the sky was beginning to turn shades of orange. The white and tan tabby walked down to the edge of the water, and stared out across the vast expanse of water.
The soft queen took a few more steps out into the waves, and gazed down into the clear water. A fish swam around her paws. She lowered her head down to get a better look. The fish jumped out of the water and smacked her in the face.

Darkmoon looked at the sand on the ground with disgust. He hated the feeling of sand within his pads and he looked at the bottom of his forepaw. He grimaced with disgust. He licked it and sputtered, spitting the sand out of his mouth. He foolishly looked around to see if anyone had caught it. He saw another cat catch his eye. He coughed suddenly and padded over to her. He grinned as the cat smacked her in the face. He padded over towards the queen. "Hello, Snowdrift." he murmured pleasantly.
He too went towards the river and stuck is face towards the water to see the fish swimming, eyeing his teeth warily. He gazed at her. She looked tired. What was she doing anyway? Alone? He looked down understandingly. Alone time was important to him too. "You don't have to talk actually. I think i understand." he said and looked at the sun setting in silence as he sat next to her.

Snowdrift jumped at the sound of Darkmoon's voice. "Oh, hi." She said nonchalantly. She didn't really care for the dark pelted tom, and he in fact frightened her a bit on many occasions. Snowdrift tried her best to not judge him, but it was quite difficult.
His words about understanding sent a flurry of thoughts through her head. How could he understand? Oh my, what does he know? DOES he know? How could he know? If he knows, does everyone know? Oh my I hope not! She then shut her mind up, knowing she must look stupid just sitting there saying nothing to Darkmoon. Even though he said she didn't have to talk, she felt the need to.
"Yeah, I just need a break everyone once in a while....." Snowdrift said. She glanced over at the tom beside her, and her fur crawled a bit. She could never look at a tom the same way after what her mind called the incident. What if all males were like that? That thought really scared her. The light pelted queen had the urge to get up and leave now, but something held her back.

Darkmoon noticed she was freaking out. He looked at her strangely. She jumped like a tail-length in the air. Jeez. Were all she-cats like this? His social skills were not on par for him to know most cats and their behavious. they sure weren't all like him. He knew that for a fact. He gazed at her. He frowned. Something was definitely wrong. He smiled, trying to be comoforting. He then leaned over to her and tried to lick her shoulder. Would she accept it? As comfort? Would she be scared?
"Alone is good when its once in a while. But being alone for moons is lonely. I know all about it. I used to be a loner."Probably not the best thing to say considering she was hurt by a loner, but Darkmoon had no idea. No idea at all.

When Darkmoon licked her shoulder, it sent a shiver down her spine. She tried to move away from him without looking rude, but then felt the urge to run away when he said he was formerly a loner. Snowdrift took a big step away and said, "Sorry but I don't like loners." She felt bad judging him like that, but what if he knew Secret? How could she take a chance?

His tail flickered with surprise at her reaction. Curious eyes stared at the feline. He had felt her shiver. She was scared. The fear radiated off of her, and his ears drooped slightly. She was afraid of him, in his moment of delicate care, she had cringed and feard his presence. He frowned and nodded at the feline. He did not completely understand what was going on, but he respected her fear. Her weakness.
"Good-bye then." he murmured quietly. He still stared into the water, not sure if she had left or not. His reflection was looking back at him, red eyes looking like red goldfish under the river's lazy currents. He frowned as a real fish splashed his image away. Who did she see when she saw him? The tom shivered slowly as a breeze caught his fur and ruffled it, making him feel vulnerable. He then looked up, understanding. His eyes grew wide and he stared at the feline, seeing her still there. Was it true? Did he figure it out?
OoC: Do you want Darkmoon to figure it out?

((ooc: Yeah, she's going to kinda hint at it more XD))
As he walked away, Snowdrift felt her heart ache. She shouldn't be so judgemental of him like that, "....please don't leave.....I'm sorry." She said, "It's just that.....nevermind." Snowdrift felt terrible, but she was still afraid of Darkmoon. She looked into his eyes, seeing that he was shocked about something. Maybe it wasn't her behavior. Maybe he knew. There was no way he could know.....or so she thought.

Darkmoon stared at the she-cat curiously. She had fear and sadness in her eyes. She looked fragile.. and Darkmoon flinched. He had a horrid past, and he had indeed been the kind of loner that would have... hurt she-cats like Snowdrift. He had seen those eyes several times from the victims of his malicious acts. He gazed into her eyes and turned away quickly. His past was written all over her. She was his victim from the past. She was representing so much more than she realized. His past was catching up to him day by day and this about did it. He looked at the ground sadly. "You... were hurt by a loner, weren't you?" he asked softly, not daring to look up at her. He knew what he would find. Orbs of sadness and sorrow and pain. He could not face it.

The words stung. He had figured it out, much to her surprise. Snowdrift lifted her head and gazed at Darkmoon. He looked almost as sad as she felt, so she felt safe to say; "Yes, one who lives under one of the twoleg nests....his name is Secret." Just saying his name made her want to run and hide. Her eyes welled up with tears as she said; "My...my kits are his...."

OoC: Oh man, you know what a crazy plot would be? If Darkmoon offered to pretend he was the father so she wouldnt have to tell people. Then Swiftflame would be really hurt and it would be awful cuz Darkmoon actually likes Swiftflame! oh man... >.<

((OOC: Wow that would be crazy o.0 Probably other cats would find it hard to believe though since every single kit is a tabby XD Then again, since Arcticpool isn't here to play Flarekit, it might be more believable (Angelkit and Maskkit look more like Snowdrift, and Purplekit like Secret). If you want to do that, I think it would be fine)))

Darkmoon looked at the distressed she-cat. She was obviously extremely upset and scared. She probably felt extremely alone... to keep this a secret from all of her friends and such, it must have been hard. He smiled at her sadly. "Secret... you deserve a lot better. Would you want to tell your clanmates the truth or... would you be more comfortable saying... some one else was your mate?" he asked, not sure of what to think. He looked at her worriedly, hoping to make her feel better with this suggestion.
He leaned forward to lick her shoulders, hoping she would not flinch away agian. He did not want her to experience pain and fear...

Snowdrift gazed into his worried eyes. She was shocked by his words. "Well.....I don't know...." Her eyes darted around nervously, then she said, "It depends on who I guess...." She figured the easiest thing about doing that would be convincing her kits. Angelkit might question a bit, but beyond that she didn't think there would be any trouble. The older members of the clan might not believe at all. Snowdrift wasn't sure if she was ready to take that risk.

Darkmoon looked at Snowdrift and if cats could blush... he would be beet red. He breathed out slowly. "I... could... be your mate. I-I mean, well you know, just to... yeah. " He sighed, shuffling his paws, the fur on his pelt raised from embrassment. "Let me try that again. I am willing to tell the clan that I am your mate. Just so you don't have to face it. I know they don't really look like me.. but you know, recessive genes and all." he said, smiling at her comfortingly. But the back of his mind, the name Swiftflame was echoing.

Snowdrift couldn't even look at Darkmoon when he spoke. She really couldn't believe what he was saying. Did he want something from her, or was he being sincere? She didn't know. She also didn't understand his babbling about 'recessive genes', but didn't dare ask what he meant. She figured it was something perverted.
"That's kind of you but.....I don't know." Her eyes look everywhere but into his as she spoke, "I mean, no offensive but I don't really like you that way, and I don't think you like me like that either."
