Name: Jaypaw
Previous Names: Jaykit
Clan: IvoryClan
Gender: Tom
Rank: Apprentice
Age: 7 moons
Appearance:
Take a look <--- Take a look
Jaypaw is an average sized apprentice. He's thin, yet muscular and rather lanky. His legs are long and nimble and help support a lean [very thin] body. His ears are rounded, yet average in size, and his tail is a centimeter shorter than most. Jaypaw's head is angular and "elegant".
Jaypaw's pelt is hardly considered medium and almost feathery. A dark grey covers his face and ears, trailing down his back and covering his tail. The rest of his body is a lighter shade of grey with black, very faint, tabby like markings.
Eyes of a light, shinning green are round and bright from his elegant head. The shade is brimming a dark goldish-yellow.
Short Description: Lanky gray tom with light green eyes.
Personality: Jaypaw is a joker. He's always happy-going and never falters in smiles. Some might say he's nilly-willy, for lack of better words.
Jaypaw is the type of cat that will chuckle at the misjudgment of a leap for a catch, or the misbehaved kit [apprentices when he's a warrior]. When Jaypaw becomes a warrior he's normally the one covering for kits or apprentices that break any rule.
Although Jaypaw is very laid back, he knows when to draw the line and become serious. Jaypaw's serious aspect is intertwined with compassion. He's understanding and willingly listens to both sides of an argument before passing judgment.
His compassion can often lead to health risks when he places himself in over drive to help others. This can result in pushing himself for more patrols or not eating for a few days in harsh times.
Tagging along with his youthful side is a cunning mind. Of course there is no ambition behind it. His tesult in using it against cats of the grumpy and uptight state tends to get his ears threatened with being clawed.
Despite his jolliness, which tends to have him viewed as a doofus, Jaypaw is rather brilliant. He keeps a watchful eye and pricked ear on his clan. He rarely doesn't know what's going on. Because of this chunk in Jaypaw's personality he tries to avoid any conversation about StarClan. He finds himself struggling with the ability to place alot of faith in them. [See history] Not only did the death of his 'sister' affect this break in his line of faith, the fact that their ancestors haven't contacted with the cats of IvoryClan has upset him greatly.
His view of Patchstar is rough. He respects the leader, being at such a young age it has been engraved into him to do so, but he is bright enough to know the line must be drawn somewhere. Keeping, or attempting to, to the older tom's "kind" side, Jaypaw does all he can to avoid suspicion.
To some it up nicely Jaypaw can be viewed as rather clueless, reckless and compassionate.
History:
Kithood: Jaykit was born to two IvoryClan cats in early new-leaf. They didn't die in his young age nor did they leave the clan. They just didn't want Jaykit to know them. The reason for odd behavior his parents portrayed was un-known but the Clan respected the pair's choice. In fact they had Jaykit raised with another Queen so he could never learn his mother's scent. He was raised with Finchkit and Robinkit.
Jaykit had a normal kithood aside from that. He never pressed to ask who his parents were for he was born a rather happy kit to begin with. His apprenticeship began to change his outlook on StarClan.
Apprenticeship: Jaypaw entered his apprentice stage with no problems. Although, hardly into his first moon, his "siblings" were wounded badly by a badger. Finchpaw died before reaching camp and the Robinpaw in the Medicine Cat's den. They told Jaypaw his sister would be fine. Then Robinpaw fell to StarClan's paws. The young tom was told to have faith and believe in StarClan's powers. Doing as suggested he wanted nothing more than to have her pull through. A few nights after the dying she-cat told Jaypaw to continue his happiness and spread his joy. That was the only reason she hung on so long. Dying the next day Jaypaw vowed to keep his promise. After that his connection and faith to StarClan became thin.
RP Example:
Robinpaw's flank heaved with effort as she attempted to suck air into her lungs. Her mottled brown and red pelt was matted with herbs and still caked on blood from the badger. If one hadn't known that Finchpaw died on the way to camp they would have assumed the she-cat to be her twin brother. Everything was the same about them, eyes, pelt color and whiskers. The only difference landed upon their eyes. Finchpaw had a solid amber while his sister carried a creamy lake-green color. Jaypaw loved that the most about her.
His sister lay, suffering in front of him. He wished he could reach out and take her pain. Jaypaw's light green eyes were nothing but anguish. He was glad his mentor allowed him a few days off from his training.
"Jaypaw?" Robinpaw's voice was panicky and half short of a wail. Rasping his tongue over her ears he whispered, "I'm here. Don't worry I won't leave you."
"But I'll leave you." Her voice was rough with emotion as she blinked her lake water eyes open. They seemed clear. "StarClan is calling me. Finchpaw is waiting for my arrival." Jaypaw shook his head and swallowed hard, his throat contracting.
"You can't leave me..." His voice cracked and licked his whiskers. "Robinpaw." The brown and red she-cat cut him off. "No, Jaypaw promise me something. After this," She sounded as if she couldn't bring herself to actually say die, "I want you to continue being happy. Please. You're happiness and joyful ways have kept me going this long make life brighter for others." Jaypaw felt his eyes glazed with pressure and pain.
"A-alright." He managed with a terrible force. "You and Finchpaw are the best big brothers a cat could have." With that she settled against him and closed her eyes, her breathing slowing with every passing moment until she was asleep and finally...with StarClan.
Jaypaw felt his body stiffen then grow cold. StarClan. Some wise, powerful cats they were. They took Finchpaw and most of all Robinpaw from him! Slowly he un-curled from Robinpaw and felt his limbs scream in protest. His thin body hurt from laying for so long. How could they do this! Stumbling from the Medicine Cat's den he felt anger engulf his body and chest. StarClan! Pah! Are they trying to turn me from them? Am I not worthy enough to worship them? Jaypaw's anger soon flushed away as his sister's voice rang in his ears, "...continue being happy." Just for the pretty red she-cat Jaypaw breathed deeply and sighed. "Alright Robinpaw," he called allowed, "I'll be happy for you. But trusting StarClan...That's no promise I said I'd keep." Growling he let the spasm of anger empty his body and hadn't felt the emotion since. In fact it was to be the last he'd feel it. Anger would be something that would come then dis spell.
Glaring up at the moon and Silverpelt he snarled under breath, the most terrible snarl heard as if it was ripping from his chest, and stalked into the Apprentice's Den overtaking Robinpaw's nest and slipping partly on Finchpaw's. Awaiting the vigil for the pretty she-cat. His promise would begin once the rays of light touched her pelt the following day.
